Narvik kommune Norway

Narvik is a city municipality in Nordland county and is located in northwestern Norway. The town was named after the farm located there in the past (“Narduigh” – 1567) and currently has 18,380 inhabitants. The most important thing in this locality is the naval port which has proven itself to be valuable over time. During the second world war this port was important for both camps in conflict. Even if the city was conquered by the Germans, the Norwegians continued to fight in guerrilla operations. The city of Narvik is connected by a railway line to Sweden, but not to other cities in Norway.
